What is a pay subsidy?

Pay subsidy is a subsidy intended to promote the employment of unemployed jobseekers. Helsinki Employment Services can grant the subsidy to employers for payroll costs. Pay-subsidised work improves the chances for jobseekers to find employment in the open labour market.

Pay-subsidised jobs in the social welfare, health and rescue sector

You can apply for pay-subsidised jobs at the social welfare, health and rescue sector in within City of Helsinki if you are an unemployed jobseeker living in Helsinki and you are eligible for pay subsidy.

All pay-subsidised employment relationships in the social welfare, health and rescue sector have a duration of seven (7) months. The employment relationships are fixed-term and cannot be continued. At least three (3) years must have passed since your previous pay-subsidised work period at the social welfare, health and rescue sector before you can be employed under the pay subsidy system again.

In order to start at a pay-subsidised job, you will always need the approval of the employment services. Please discuss the matter with your specialist before applying for a pay-subsidised job. Submit a contact request via Job Market Finland's E-services(Link leads to external service).

If you have been chosen for a pay-subsidised job, the employment services will prepare a pay subsidy application. After the application has been approved, you can sign an employment agreement, after which you can start working.
