Integration services for those who are not jobseekers

Helsinki Employment Services provides information on Finnish and Swedish language courses, society in general and group and leisure activities, for example. We offer support and guidance on how to start a good life in Helsinki.

If you live in Helsinki and have just received a residence permit, card or registered your right of residence, you may be able to receive services supporting integration provided by the City of Helsinki.

When assessing competence and service needs for integration, we will examine your previous education, work experience, language skills, goals, wishes and the type of services you need.

We can also draw up an integration plan and agree on the services you need for integration. You can bring your child along or only attend services part-time. The services may include the following:
- Multilingual social orientation. The course provides basic information on Finnish society in your own language or in a language that you know well.
- Finnish or Swedish language training.
- Activities to promote integration and employment offered by organisations, communities or associations.

If you are taking care of a child at home, you can take part in Finnish or Swedish language training during which child care will be provided. When you receive child home care allowance and attend the services agreed in the integration plan, your integration period may be extended for up to two years.

In addition, there are other Finnish and Swedish language courses which you can attend on a part-time basis.

You will be assigned your own specialist who will assist you on matters related to integration.
