THL informed (7.12) that two new coronavirus infections have been found in the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa. Both cases are in Helsinki.

The people who are infected have recently visited South Africa and Nigeria. The cases are not connected to the earlier chain of infections. In total three new coronavirus infections caused by the omicron variant have now been confirmed in Helsinki.

Those who have been in close contact with the infected people have been quarantined and we are finding out about others who may have been exposed.

“You can protect yourself against an omicron infection the same way as against other coronavirus infections. I would like to remind that it is important to maintain the vaccination cover, good hand and face mask hygiene and keep a safe distance. Stay at home if you show any symptoms and get tested if necessary”, says Sanna Isosomppi, The Chief Physician of the City’s epidemiologic operations.

In Helsinki you can be tested by completing a symptom assessment at omaolo.fi or by calling the Coronavirus Helpline, tel. 09 310 10024 (weekdays 8–18).
