“The aim of the Helsinki Council on Disability this term is to promote the employment of people with disabilities and long-term illnesses. There is still much to do in terms of changing the attitudes of various parties. Through reasonable adjustments, many people with disabilities could find employment that is meaningful and productive for both themselves and their employers,” says Chair of the Helsinki Council on Disability Sirpa Puhakka.

The event will bring together those interested in the employment of partially disabled persons and decision-makers. “We encourage as many people as possible to take part in the discussion. I hope that this will generate a new kind of cooperation in Helsinki,” says Puhakka.

The Helsinki Council on Disability wants to promote the equality and participation of Helsinki residents with disabilities or long-term illnesses. The Council provides opinions on matters that affect the following aspects in the lives of persons with disabilities and long-term illnesses. These include wellbeing and health; inclusion and ability to participate in decision-making; living environment and housing; and mobility and services.
