Outdoor swimming pool season to open on Mother’s Day again

Outdoor swimming pools are an essential part of the summer in Helsinki, and for many, the opening of the Swimming Stadium marks the beginning of summer. True to tradition, the Swimming Stadium will reopen on Mother’s Day, on Sunday 11 May, and will remain open until 21 September 2025. The Kumpula Outdoor Swimming Pool will open on Monday 26 May and will remain open until 22 August 2025. This year, the summer season of both outdoor swimming pools will be slightly longer than before.

A special programme will be available at the Swimming Stadium to celebrate its opening on 11 May, including deep-water hydrobics as well as face painting and a bouncy castle – weather allowing - for children. DJ RNo will play music for the opening ceremony, and the first one hundred customers will get to enjoy free coffee. 

  • 9.00–13.00 DJ RNo plays music, a bouncy castle for children (weather permitting), and coffee vouchers for the first one hundred customers.
  • 10.00–10.30 Deep-water hydrobics
  • 11.00–11.30 Deep-water hydrobics
  • 11.00–13.00 Face painting for children 

Changes to the programme are possible. When the opening ceremony programme ends, the Swimming Stadium will remain open in accordance with the normal Sunday opening hours, until 20.00. 

Revised price list for outdoor swimming pools 

The new season ticket to outdoor swimming pools will be valid for the entire outdoor swimming pool season this summer from 11 May to 21 September 2025. The season ticket for outdoor swimming pools will continue to be valid both at the Swimming Stadium and at the Kumpula Outdoor Swimming Pool. The previous season ticket for outdoor swimming pools was valid for four months (120 days), i.e. a shorter period than the outdoor swimming pool season.  

Prices for the Swimming Stadium and Kumpula Outdoor Swimming Pool in 2025: 
Single visit: €6 for adults, €3.30 for children and discount groups*  
10 visits: €50 for adults, €27 for children and discount groups*  
1 month (30 days): €50 for adults, €27 for children and discount groups*  
Outdoor swimming pool season ticket (11 May–21 September 2025): €144 for adults, €78 for children and discount groups*  
*Discount groups: children (ages 7–17), students, unemployed people, pensioners, conscripts and persons undergoing non-military service, people with disabilities, those who have applied for temporary protection and those who have already received their decision.  

Free entry to outdoor swimming pools for Helsinki residents between ages 7–19 

The Helsinki City Council is celebrating its 150th anniversary by providing young people with experiences free of charge in 2025. Accordingly, Helsinki residents aged 7–19 can enter the outdoor swimming pools free of charge with the Youth Services membership (‘Jässäri’) card. The outdoor swimming pools will provide you with activities for the whole day 

A visit to the Swimming Stadium covers a wide range of activities for the whole day. As with before, the area features a versatile outdoor gym with equipment by David, an outdoor floorball rink, basketball and beach volley courts, ping pong tables, an indoor gym, a giant chess area and play areas for children. The only services subject to an additional fee are the large slide (€5), the delicious products of the café and the guided sports sessions, such as hydrobics. For early birds, the Swimming Stadium provides deep-water hydrobics on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for an additional fee of €3.  
 
The Kumpula site also features beach volley and basketball courts, a high-quality outdoor gym with equipment by David, ping pong tables, and picnic and children’s play areas. The Kumpula site also features a boxing point, where you can train for a deposit. A café restaurateur offers their services at the Kumpula site as well. The Kumpula outdoor swimming pool provides deep-water hydrobics on Monday and Wednesday mornings. 

Parking at the Kumpula Outdoor Swimming Pool subject to a fee during the summer season 

From 15 May 2025 onwards, the parking area of the Kumpula Outdoor Swimming Pool will be subject to a fee in the summer season from 15 May to 31 August between 6.00 and 22.00. When paid for via the ticket machine, the parking fee is €1/h. When paying with a parking app, the app will charge a fee in accordance with the customer’s user agreement.
