On the website, you can find information about your child's development at different ages and practical tips to support your family's wellbeing. The pages covering various topics also provide information on who you can turn to if the advice on the website does not help.

"The new website is full of information on topical issues that parents often ask about, such as their child's first phone, screen time or gaming. Parents are also often concerned about their child's changing emotional state, relationships with friends and self-esteem when they start school – the ‘Helsinki for families with children’ website provides useful information on all of these topics,” says School Social Worker Leila Laitinen, who helped develop the site.

Comprehensive support for families

The development of the ‘Helsinki for families with children’ website has been contributed to by maternity and child health clinic and school health care nurses, social instructors from services for families with children, school social workers and psychologists, speech and occupational therapists and experts in the field of physical education, among others.

The site covers the different stages of families from planning a baby to the end of primary school. The ‘Helsinki for families with children’ website also highlights events at playgrounds and libraries, school activity groups and the activities of organisations.

A section for parents of teenagers is also in the pipeline and will be published during the spring.
The new website is based on the popular Family Support website.

"The previous Family Support website has been greatly missed. We wanted to compile information for parents in Helsinki to make it convenient to access. Our aim is to provide guidance for parents so that they can deal with different situations at home and also find information on where to get help,” says Director of Family Services Terhi Pippuri from the City of Helsinki.
