The ruins of the shipyard building in the eastern part of Merikasarminpuisto, which have already been renovated, will feature new plantings and seating areas, as well as a pergola. The furniture will be complemented by garden swings, waste bins and bike racks. Lighting will also be improved. In the western part, the playing field will be resurfaced and its fence replaced.

The park will gain plenty of new vegetation. The new plantings will mainly consist of small fruit trees and flowering and berry-producing shrubs, which will increase biodiversity and provide food for pollinators. Additionally, a large number of flower bulbs will be planted.

Some of the stunted trees in the densely planted oak avenue running parallel to Merikasarminkatu will be thinned out to improve the growing conditions for the trees that are to be preserved. Additionally, one tree will be removed from the cluster next to Merisotilaantori Square. These trees, ten in total, will be removed in March before the birds start nesting. The trees will be felled at night due to the nearby tramway.

The actual renovation work will begin in April and be completed in November 2026. The contractor is Stara.
