Residents of the Vaskooli group home of the Kontula Senior Centre have been diagnosed with coronavirus infections on Thursday, 4 November. One of the residents had previously become ill with coronavirus, which is why all those exposed in the department were tested.

"Residents have vaccination protection, which is why the symptoms of the patients are mild," says Helsinki City Hospital’s Medical Director Laura Pikkarainen.

The relatives of the infected residents have been contacted and informed about the situation. The group home is closed due to the infections and cannot be visited. The adjoining group home Tunturi is also currently closed due to possible exposures.

Vaskooli's group home offers a 24/7 short-term housing service, such as family care interleaving, part-time care or a comparable service. In Vaskooli, some of the places are for memory-impaired elderly people living at home and some for disability services clients.

Tunturi is a 14-place group home for memory-impaired residents.
