Baana closed at Arkadiankatu bridge for three evenings and nights in March

The route will be closed nightly from 17 to 20 March between 20.00 and 06.30. This is due to demolition work on the bridge.

Work on the Arkadiankatu bridge is progressing, with the next major phase of work being the demolition of the old bridge deck. The demolition will take place over three evenings and nights, during which access to the Baana cycle path on the bridge will be closed.

Scheduled demolition work:

  • from 20.00 on Tue 17 March to 6.30 on Wed 18 March
  • from 20.00 on Wed 18 March to 6.30 on Thu 19 March
  • from 20.00 on Thu 19 March to 6.30 on Fri 20 March.

Other sections of the Baana cycle path can be used as usual.

Temporary routes during the evenings and nights

Walking route

  • Jaakonkatu stairs – Eteläinen Rautatiekatu – stairs behind Pikkuparlamentti.
  • Accessible route via Runeberginkatu and Pikkuparlamentti ramps.

Bicycles

  • When approaching from the west: Up the ramp to Runeberginkatu – Eteläinen Rautatiekatu – Olavinkatu – Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu – down to Baana via the Mannerheimintie bridge and ramp.
  • When approaching from the east: Up the ramp behind Pikkuparlamentti – Mannerheimintie – Arkadiankatu – Eteläinen Rautatiekatu – Antinkatu – Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu – Runeberginkatu – down the ramp to Baana.
