The City of Helsinki organises sales spots for Christmas tree sellers from markets, parks and squares. There are almost 100 Christmas tree sales spots, some of which are co-sales spots and some exclusive sales spots.
The sales spots are assigned through auctions in October and November. The auctions will be held in the Huuto.net service.
This year, the auction period ended on 3 November 2025.
The sales period of Christmas trees is from mid-December to Christmas Eve.
Where can I sell Christmas trees?
The City of Helsinki has several Christmas tree sales spots (PDF, in Finnish). The Christmas tree sale period is 10–24 December.
Most of the sales spots are exclusive (single vendor) spots. You can see the locations of the exclusive sales spots on the minimap (PNG, 6 MB).
There are also two co-sales points, one in Hakaniemi and another in Hietalahdentori. Both co-sales points have room for four vendors.

How do I apply for a Christmas tree sales spot?
You can rent a Christmas tree sales spot by participating in the auction of spots in the Huuto.net service. The sales right is granted to the highest bidder. The sales spots are auctioned out in October and November.
The auction of sales spots closes in accordance with the rules of the Huuto.net service. You can buy any vacant sales spots through the Huuto.net service until 23 December or as long as spots are available.
How do I pay for a sales spot?
If you have made the highest bid for a sales spot, you will receive a message from the Huuto.net service after the auction has closed.
Once you have made the payment, please submit a copy of your payment receipt by email to ulkoilma@hel.fi(Link opens default mail program) .
After receiving the message from Huuto.net that your bid has won, please pay for the sales spot with the following information:
Payee: Helsingin kaupunki
Account number: Nordea FI91 1660 3001 1994 65
Due date: immediately
Sum: Your Huuto.net bid in euros
Payer: your name and address
Additional information field: the number and address of the sales spot, the Huuto.net lot ID and your Huuto.net username
Do not use a reference number.
Good to know about Christmas tree sales spots
- A Christmas tree vendor who redeems a sales spot must agree to the terms and conditions of Christmas tree sales spots (PDF, in Finnish).
- The vendor must have the notification of winning the auction from the Huuto.net service and a receipt of the payment with them at the sales spot.
- Bids made through the Huuto.net service are binding. If the highest bidder does not pay for the sales spot, the City will collect a fee for the spot in accordance with the City’s collection policy.
