The current payroll situation promises to decrease the correction backlog in all error types. Most errors concern underpaid wages, such as bonuses. The second most common errors are other errors (such as errors related to holidays and absences), and the third most common are overpaid wages.

Any holiday-related errors in the Sarastia system will be corrected by the end of March. To this end, the Financial Management Services public enterprise (Talpa) responsible for payroll calculation has received additional help.

Payroll advise for supervisors

The City will launch new measures to improve salary-related data quality and to support City supervisors by providing advice on filling in the various Sarastia forms. Appropriately completed forms are a prerequisite for the payroll to work smoothly. The advisory service works by appointment.

Incomes Register corrections concerning taxation in 2022 are progressing. Most of the personnel’s Incomes Register data is now correct. The City aims to correct as many incomplete Incomes Register entries as possible before the Tax Administration sends most of the pre-completed tax returns (in March–April) and before the deadline date of the pre-completed tax return in May. After this, the work will continue with corrections related to on-duty meals and other individual items during the late spring and summer.
