The Lännentila competition team won the City of Helsinki's 2025 concept competition with their proposal Haltiala elämyksien maatila (‘Haltiala Farm of Experiences’). The new owner of the buildings is Haltialan Tila Oy, a company founded by Lännentila.

New operator to start in June

“We will be making small improvements in the area this spring, and our aim is to start a bigger operation in Haltiala in early June. As in previous years, you can come and see the sheep and new lambs in the spring,” says Klaus Karjula from Lännentila.

Future plans for Haltiala Farm include a pizza restaurant, farm accommodation, saunas and a ski café.

Smooth changeover in the spring

During the spring, Haltiala will undergo a smooth transition, with the new operator taking over the farm previously run by the City. Stara's current animal keepers and other professionals on the farm will introduce the new owners to the farm, its buildings and animals.

The Urban Environment Committee decided on the winner of the Haltiala concept competition at its meeting on 10 February 2026.

The sale price of the farm buildings was EUR 200,000. In addition to the sale price, the buyer undertakes to build a new manure pit that is required by the domestic animal farm. The new operator has signed a land lease agreement with the City for the area for around EUR 21,000 per year.
