The sale of the L3 storage building in Jätkäsaari continues

The L3 storage building designed by Lars Sonck will go on sale in March. The former warehouse is suitable for a variety of purposes, such as business, exhibition or office space. The local detailed plan also allows for restaurant and service facilities in the building.

The building is near the centre of Helsinki, on the eastern shore of the rapidly developing Jätkäsaari, easily accessible by public transport.

– building is being sold because it is no longer used for the City's own services. The aim is to sell both the plot and the building to someone who will develop the building for use in accordance with the local detailed plan, says specialist Katharina Mead.

Built in 1924 and just over 10,000 square metres in size, the former storage building is valuable to both the cityscape and architectural history. It is protected with the sr-1 classification. The guiding principle is that future renovations and alterations should not alter the characteristics of the façade and architecture.

The building was last used as a COVID-19 vaccination point. Before that, it has housed art galleries and artists' studios.

The building will be made available in the continuous plot search on the list of available commercial premises. It will be open for bids and proposals starting from March, when the sale starts. The exact date of the sale will be announced on the City's Commercial Plots website and in the Tonttivahti newsletter.
