You can book an appointment from 12 February 2026 onwards. To book the appointment, call your health station or the maternity and child health clinic telephone service (tel. +358 9 310 55530, open on weekdays from 8.00 to 14.00). School pupils can get vaccinated by contacting their school nurse.
Students living in the areas mentioned above can get the vaccine through their student health care services by contacting the nurse of their educational institution.
The free-of-charge vaccine series consists of three (3) doses
The free-of-charge vaccine series is provided to persons who live permanently in Länsi-Herttoniemi or Karhusaari, or live long-term in holiday homes in these areas. Children and young people in early childhood and basic education in these areas are also provided with the vaccine series free of charge.
The areas are covered by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare’s national vaccination programme(Link leads to external service) .
The vaccination is also recommended for people who spend time in the natural areas and parks in Länsi-Herttoniemi and Karhusaari, and for those who spend a lot of time outdoors in general in these areas. However, they must pay for the vaccine.
Two doses of the vaccine should be administered before the summer. The second dose should be administered 1–3 months after the first, and the third dose 9–12 months after the second.

The vaccine is recommended for those who live in the areas permanently or in long-term holiday homes and spend time in local nature and parks. The vaccine is also recommended for those who frequent local natural areas.
If you are in one of these groups, you will need a prescription from your health station. You can then buy the vaccine yourself at a pharmacy. Private clinics also provide TBE vaccinations for a fee. There is no vaccine recommendation in place in other areas in Helsinki.
The vaccinations for Helsinki residents who spend time in other municipalities
Free vaccinations are available through the wellbeing services county in which the vaccination programme area is located. You can also receive the vaccination in Helsinki, but you must pay for it yourself.
