It is possible to shorten the interval between the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to six weeks from 3 September onwards. At present, the vaccination interval is 6–12 weeks. “Due to the infection situation, we are now offering the opportunity to take a second dose of the vaccine as early as six weeks after the first dose. However, a dose interval of less than six weeks is not possible, and the vaccination interval will be checked at the vaccination point”, says Timo Lukkarinen, Medical Director of health stations.
The second dose of vaccine can only be obtained by appointment and only at the Helsinki vaccination points in Jätkäsaari, Malmi, Messukeskus and Myllypuro.
The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is available without an appointment at Helsinki Central railway station on 6-7 September
It is possible for Helsinki residents to receive their first dose of COVID-19 vaccination without making an appointment at the pop-up vaccination point at Helsinki Central railway station on Monday 6 September between 11:00-15:00 and on Tuesday 7 September between 15:00-19:00.
The vaccination point can be found in the central hall of the train station, near the main entrance and the Forex company. Only the first dose of coronary vaccine will be given at the pop-up vaccination point.
“The train station is really centrally located and there are a lot of people moving through there. On Tuesday 7 September, the train station's pop-up vaccination point is open until 19:00, so the vaccine can even be received on the way home from work”, says Lukkarinen.
The vaccine can be obtained at a pop-up point by showing an ID or Kela card. Prepare to remain at the location for 15 minutes after the vaccination so that the staff can monitor your condition. COVID-19 vaccinations are free of charge.
