The City of Helsinki is investigating damage to waterfront structures by the Allas Sea Pool marine spa in Katajanokka. The damage was caused by M/S Gabriella’s collision with Katajanokanlaituri on 12 January 2022.

The waterfront area is owned by the City of Helsinki and has been leased for the use of Allas Sea Pool. The damage to the quay and support wall has been investigated since last week with diving surveys, among other methods. Further investigation is required to determine the full extent of the damage, but the investigations carried out so far have already revealed a need for repairs in the area.

Allas Sea Pool has suspended its operations due to the required investigations and until the repair needs of its own buildings can be assessed. Access to the waterfront area has been restricted to ensure safety.

Allas Sea Pool was already closed before the accident due to COVID-19 restrictions. The company will provide more information about the resumption of its operations via its own channels(Link leads to external service).
