Tuorinniemi Daycare Center is a 193-place daycare center located on the shores of Herttoniemi. Currently, there are 11 groups of children in the daycare center. The children are between the ages of 10 months and 6 years. In addition to early childhood education, the daycare center also provides preschool education.

In the large daycare center, we are divided into home areas, which are Horisontti, Majakka and Kaislikko.

Children are active actors and their participation in the choices of their own activities is supported and encouraged. The child's individual needs, interests, wishes and support needs are taken into account so that the child experiences success in their own activities and in themselves.

Children are encouraged to try new things. It is important to us that every child has friends. Helpfulness and kindness and everyone's opportunity to express their own opinion are important at Tuorinniemi.

The staff is sensitive to children's initiatives and to listening to them. The staff is aware of the importance of warm interaction and equal encounters. The staff's goal is to meet the child in action every day, stopping for a moment and listening to the child.

Cultural and linguistic diversity is taken into account in the daycare's everyday life. Celebrations and traditions belonging to cultures are discussed with children and families. We value each other as individuals and diverse linguistic starting points are taken into account and time and opportunities are given for varying language use situations. The development of children's Finnish is supported, for example, with pictures, sign language, songs, rhymes and games.

A unit sosionomi and a Finnish as a second language teacher work at the daycare with needs-based funding. They implement multidisciplinary activities that increase children's learning and the inclusion and well-being of families in the daycare groups, in cooperation with the staff as needed.

We encourage the identification of strengths, their utilization and enable children to experience success in the learning processes. The interactive atmosphere is important for the activity of participation and influence. In a safe and permissive atmosphere, the child dares to experiment, participate, express his opinion and act boldly.
