How to apply for summer jobs

The City of Helsinki accepts applications for summer job vacancies on a rolling basis early in the year. The number of available summer jobs is highest at the turn of January and February. New open positions are posted on a weekly basis, so be sure to keep an eye on the open jobs page. You can also set up your own saved search with search criteria that suit you. Read more about how to create your own saved search.

We encourage applications from people of all ages and genders, as well as from people who belong to linguistic, cultural or other minorities. We strive for accessibility and diversity in our recruitment. The work can be tailored to correspond to the recruit’s skills and physical functional capacity.

Summer jobs for 16–20-year-olds

The City wants to provide as many young people as possible with their first summer job experience. We offer around one thousand summer jobs for young people each year.

Most of our summer jobs are for young people who have completed comprehensive school and are under 18 years old at the start of their summer job.

Siisti kesä! project summer jobs for 16–20-year-olds

Our Siisti kesä! summer jobs are for young people aged 16–20 who have no work experience. The 270 summer jobs offered in the context of the project are with Stara, Helsinki City Construction Services, and the Culture and Leisure Division's sports services.

Summer workers hired as part of the project help keep City parks, squares, kerbsides, sports facilities and public beaches tidy. If you are over 18, you can also apply to become a team leader. As a team leader, you will mentor younger summer workers and build your supervisor skills at the same time. For the team leader position, having a driving licence is considered to be an advantage.

Friendly colleagues and a relaxed work environment. You could take breaks when your energy started to decline.
