Designed by Juha Leiviskä and Asta Björklund and completed in 1991, Vallila Library will be renovated to make it even more inviting. The entrance will be made accessible, and the library hall will get new parquet flooring. The shelves and lighting will also be updated, and the children’s library section will get more space.

The library will be closed from 1 May onwards, which is May Day. According to plans, the renovated library is scheduled to open around mid-October.

During the renovation, customers can use the nearby libraries of Arabianranta, Kalasatama, Kallio and Pasila. Customers of Vallila Library can choose to retrieve their reservations at any other Helmet library. They can also freeze their reservations for the duration of the renovation, allowing them to retain their place in the reservation queue. Reservations intended for pickup at Vallila Library will be redirected to Pasila Library from 22 April onwards.
