This year the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum organised annually in Davos, Switzerland, will be replaced by a virtual Davos Agenda event, organised 25–29 January, and the annual meeting organised later in May. Mayor of Helsinki Jan Vapaavuori speaks at the Davos Agenda on Tuesday 26 January at 3 p.m. Finnish time.
Mayor Jan Vapaavuori speaks in a panel titled Rethinking Cities for a Post-COVID Future. In the panel the Mayor addresses the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the development of cities and their mutual competition, the importance of cooperation in order to succeed in the times after the pandemic and the importance of comprehensive leadership in crisis management.
Other speakers include the founder and CEO of EDGE, OVG Real Estate Coen van Oostrom, the founder and CEO of Quantela Sridhar Gadhi and New York City's Commissioner for International Affairs Penny Abeywardena.
Mayor Jan Vapaavuori is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Cities of Tomorrow and on the Stewardship Board of the WEF Platform for Shaping the Future of Cities, Infrastructure & Urban Services.
The Davos Agenda is a pioneering mobilization of global leaders to shape the principles, policies and partnerships needed in this challenging new context. In 2021 it is essential for leaders from all walks of life to work together virtually for a more inclusive, cohesive and sustainable future as soon as possible. An entire week of global programming will be dedicated to helping leaders choose innovative and bold solutions to stem the pandemic and drive a robust recovery over the next year. The Davos Agenda will also mark the launch of the World Economic Forum’s Great Reset Initiative and begin the preparation of the Special Annual Meeting in the spring.
