
In Helsinki, the school year ends on Saturday 31 May in Finnish- and Swedish-language schools and general upper secondary schools. The new general upper secondary school graduates are celebrated on the same day. The school year in pre-primary education ends on Friday 30 May.
The spring term of the Konepaja Upper Secondary School for Adults ends on Friday 30 May. The last day of studies in the Swedish-language adult general upper secondary school at Tölö Gymnasium is Wednesday 28 May. The graduation ceremony at the Helsinki Vocational College, or Stadin AO, will be celebrated on Friday 30 May.

Names of new graduates published
A total of 2,129 new graduates will graduate from the general upper secondary schools of Helsinki this spring. It is possible to graduate from Stadin AO, the Helsinki Vocational College throughout the year. This spring (1 January–30 June), the number of graduates is around 2,900.
The general upper secondary schools of the City of Helsinki have announced the names of new graduates on their websites. Only the names of new graduates who have not prohibited the publishing of their name are published. Find a school website on the page General upper secondary schools.
Advisory services during the summer
The Education Division's advisory services are available according to normal opening hours in June:
- Mon–Fri at 10–12 and 13–15 by telephone, email and via the feedback system
- Tue and Thu at 10–12 and 13–15 in person at the office at Työpajankatu 8.
In July, the services are available at the office by appointment and also by telephone, email and feedback system on Monday to Friday at 10–12 and 13–15. From the beginning of August, the advisory services’ customer service hours will return to normal.
New school year to begin in August
After the summer holiday, schoolwork will begin on Thursday 7 August in the Finnish- and Swedish-language comprehensive schools and general upper secondary schools of the City of Helsinki. The autumn term of the Konepaja Upper Secondary School for Adults will start on Friday 29 August, and the Tölö Gymnasium Adult General Upper Secondary School will resume work on Wednesday 20 August.
Students admitted to Stadin AO, the Helsinki Vocational College in the joint application system and rolling admission in the spring will start their studies on Tuesday 5 August. TUVA students will start their school year on Thursday 7 August. Students resuming their studies will continue their schoolwork according to their personal competence development plans.
