Pitäjänmäki Library is currently expected to move to the temporary premises in May 2026, with Malminkartano Library expected to follow in August 2027. The new temporary premises are located between the Pitäjänmäki and Malminkartano libraries, so the location is accessible to residents of both areas. Located on the second floor of Shopping Centre Ristikko, the temporary premises have a floor area of 236 square metres and will provide library services to customers in a central location with good transport connections.
The current Pitäjänmäki Library is located in an annex of Pitäjänmäki Comprehensive School, which will be demolished and replaced with a new extension as part of the renovation of the school. In addition to the library, the new extension will house school and daycare premises and a sports hall. The project will take approximately three years to complete. Pitäjänmäki Library will move to its new premises in early autumn 2029.
The current Malminkartano Library is located in the Puustelli multipurpose building, which also houses Malminkartano Primary School. The new library will be built next to the school on its own plot on the corner of Puustellinaukio square. The construction of Malminkartano Library will be completed in late 2029 or early 2030, according to current information.
