No tram services to Hakaniemi for four weeks from 6 October

The routes of trams 7B and 9B will change and tram 6B will be withdrawn from Monday, 6 October. Trams 7B and 9B will not operate to Hakaniemi from 6 October to 2 November. The service changes are due to track work to reopen the tram tracks from Hämeentie and Siltasaarenkatu. Once the work is completed, trams will once again operate across Pitkäsilta Bridge in November.

Trams will return to Pitkäsilta Bridge in November

Trams will resume their normal routes across Pitkäsilta Bridge on Monday, 3 November 2025. More detailed information will be provided closer to the date. We thank all our passengers for their patience during the works.

Street work on Siltasaarenkatu – what’s being done

In October, Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd will remove the temporary tram tracks between Hämeentie and the “Kallion virastotalo” tram stops and reopen the old tracks from Hämeentie and Siltasaarenkatu. Additionally, track and switch work will be carried out at the junction of Toinen linja and Siltasaarenkatu.

Test runs will be conducted on the new tram tracks between Hakaniementori Market Square and the Pitkäsilta Bridge. The work is part of the construction of the Kruunusillat tramway, which will connect Laajasalo, Korkeasaari, and Kalasatama to Hakaniemi in 2027.

As part of the project, water and sewer systems, as well as other outdated utility infrastructure, have also been replaced on Siltasaarenkatu. Additionally, the tram tracks between Hakaniementori Market Square and the Pitkäsilta Bridge have been replaced, and new switches have been installed at the intersection of Siltasaarenkatu and Hakaniemenranta. The new switches will enable the new light rail link to Laajasalo.
