The shared services consist of property caretaker and building manager duties on Harakka island, as well as ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance and care of the Artists' House, the Nature Centre and the common areas and structures on the island. The services also include customer service and coordination tasks related to the City's own services.
Harakka island, with an area of nine hectares, is a former Finnish Defence Forces island close to Kaivopuisto park in Helsinki. It is managed by the City of Helsinki and was opened to the public in 1989. It is home to two City-run services; the Harakka Nature Centre managed by the Urban Environment Division and the Harakka Artists' House, which serves as a year-round artists' residence, managed by the Culture and Leisure Division. The island is open to visitors during public transport service periods.
