The number of city-owned rental apartments is increasing constantly with new construction. The number of new builds completed varies from year to year. For example, slightly over 200 new apartments will be completed in 2022 and slightly over 600 in 2023. All the new builds are owned by Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy (Heka).
You can find the news buildings’ presentation pages on Heka’s location pages(Link leads to external service). On the tour page, you will find a description of the building’s construction method, floor plans and rental information for the apartments before the application period starts.
All Heka’s new buildings are non-smoking.
Applying for new buildings
You can apply for new buildings by filling in an application for a Heka rental apartment(Link leads to external service). You can add apartments you interested in to the application on the apartment information (asunnon tiedot) page. If you have a valid housing application already, you can add the selected apartments to your application by editing the application. We recommend that you read the instructions for applying for a Heka rental apartment before filling in the application.
Application periods for new buildings
We publish the application periods and instructions for new buildings as soon as they are known, but at least three months before the buildings are completed.
You can apply for new apartments as long as all the tenants have been selected. We will start selecting tenants two weeks after the application period begins.
