Rent a Kymppi-kodit apartment

Start the application process by browsing available Kymppi-kodit apartments on the  Oikotie website (in Finnish)(Link leads to external service).

Make a note of the details of apartments that you are interested in, or keep the details open in your browser, as you will need them when you fill in the application.

You can also access the application form by clicking the Vuokraa tästä (‘Rent here’) button in the apartment listing on Oikotie.

You can apply for an apartment if you are at least 18 and have a Finnish personal identity code. Only private individuals may apply for our apartments; companies, for example, are not eligible.

Once submitted, your application remains valid for three months at a time. If you make changes to your application or submit a new application, it will replace your previous application.

How to fill in the application form:

1. Select "Helsinki" as the city.
2. Enter the search criteria that match your requirements, such as the apartment type and maximum rent.
3. Press the “Search for free apartments” button. You will be presented with a list of apartments that match your search criteria.
4. Add the apartments that you are interested in to your application.
5. Fill in your personal data. If you are moving in with another adult, please also provide the other adult’s personal data. You can add children to the application separately on the next page.
6. Once you have submitted your application, you must confirm it.

Your housing application will not be valid until you have confirmed it. You can confirm your application through authentication with your online banking credentials or mobile certificate. You must accept the cookies on the confirmation page in order to confirm your application.

If the application has a co-applicant, they must also confirm the application through authentication. The co-applicant will receive a link in their email, which will allow them to check the application details for their part and confirm the application.

If you or your co-applicant are unable to identify yourselves through electronic authentication, you can visit the rental apartment search advisory service point at Työpajankatu 8. There, you can prove your identity using an official personal identity document (passport or personal ID card). You will also need a personal email address for registration. If you are unable to visit the service point, please contact the service by phone or email.

You can check via the rental apartment search service whether all of your co-applicants aged 18 or older have carried out the authentication and confirmed the application.

Editing an application

If you want to add apartments to your application, you can make changes to your application in the rental apartment search service. 

Keep in mind that you and any co-applicant will still need to confirm the amended application.

How to edit your application:

1. Log in to the rental apartment search service.(Link leads to external service)
2. Select the application that you want to edit.
3. Select ‘Edit your application’ at the end of the application summary.
4. Review the information in your application and make changes where necessary.
5. Check your information on the summary page and submit your application.
6. After editing your application, confirm it by identifying yourself or logging in again.

Whenever you edit your application, its validity is extended by three months. If your housing application expires, you will need to submit a new application.

Please note that our housing advisors cannot edit your application. Only you or any co-applicants can edit the application.

Withdrawing an application

our application will automatically expire in three months. If you no longer need an apartment, you can withdraw your application earlier. The application will expire immediately after cancellation.

How to withdraw your housing application:

1. Log in to the rental apartment search service.(Link leads to external service)
2. Select ‘Applications’ and click on the application that you want to delete.
3. Click on ‘Go to edit the application’ under the application details.
4. Select ‘Delete’ and ‘Confirm’.

You will be notified of an apartment offer by email and text message.

The apartment offer will include contact details that you can use to arrange an apartment viewing and the signing of the rental agreement.

You have three working days from the date of the offer to decide whether to accept the offered apartment.

Where necessary, we will ask applicants to provide us with a residence permit valid for at least 12 months or a registration certificate.

Anyone with a Finnish personal identity code can apply for Kymppi-kodit rental apartments.

Tenant selections are made as soon as applications arrive and a suitable tenant is found. 

No, you cannot. Non-subsidised rental housing can only be applied for through strong authentication using online banking credentials or Mobile ID.

If you (or any co-applicant) are unable to prove your identity through electronic authentication, visit the rental apartment search customer service and prove your identity using an official personal identity document (passport or personal identity card).

Usually no. We will only ask you to submit your residence permit for at least 12 months or a certificate of registration of an EU citizen after you have received an apartment offer. 

If you wish to move to another Kymppi-kodit apartment, you can apply for one in the same way as you would for a new apartment.

To apply for an apartment, browse the available apartments on Oikotie.fi and fill in an application. There is no separate application for those who wish to change apartments.

The apartment offer will include customer service contact details that you can use to arrange an apartment viewing and the signing of the rental agreement.

You have three working days to view the apartment and decide whether to accept it.

Rent arrears or other housing-related debt may prevent you from being offered an apartment. If you can provide us with proof of a repayment plan for your housing-related debt, we can offer you an apartment on a 12-month fixed-term rental agreement.
