Cities and companies today are developing / putting more efforts in aiming for more holistic and multi-layered perspective on sustainability than climate and environment topics. The business sector has also requested the City of Helsinki Climate Partners to develop the network also in areas of social, economic and cultural sustainability.
Sustainability Partners is aimed for local businesses that want to participate in making Helsinki carbon-neutral and more sustainable in every way. On top of our already extensive list of climate partners we wish to welcome new members of different scales in business that can bring smart and clean solutions that benefit us all in making our city more sustainable for all. Other private and public organizations working on research, development, and innovation (RDI sector) are also invited.
The main objectives are to call our existing business partners to joint development work, extend the network and create a more unified understanding of various collaboration methods and innovative projects.
We want to:
- Encourage Helsinki area-based companies to sustainability work and enable more shared activitis to reduce emissions
- Create sustainable business opportunities and invite small and medium size enterprises to the network that wish to develop their sustainability agenda
- Support Helsinki area actors to find new and innovative solutions to global challenges according to the strategic city economic policy priority objectives
- Share results, lessons learned and experiences of best practices
Network partners set up their sustainability objectives for the coming years. This can be done together with city experts and other network participants. Objectives are to be set towards strong improvement. Some companies are front-runners in this which provides good background for improving progress together.
Creating and developing activities together enables more sustainable ways for business. Network members get new information on the city’s sustainability targets and linked events which can also be arranged at the companies’ premises.
Sustainability Partners activities are coordinated by Business Helsinki.
