Facilitating growth in the health and wellbeing sector

In 2029, Helsinki will be carrying out coordinated and impactful ecosystem work through Health Capital Helsinki, the health and well-being sector ecosystem, with the aim of fostering new business opportunities and innovations. Meilahti is developing into Northern Europe’s leading hub for health and well-being research, innovation, and business. The opportunities provided by the City to develop and pilot new solutions give companies valuable insights and references for further developing their products and business operations.

In particular, we will promote the achievement of the target state by the following means:

  1. Together with HUS, the University of Helsinki and Aalto University, we will develop a ‘Meilahti 2030’ vision and roadmap. We will implement the measures set out in the roadmap to develop Meilahti into Northern Europe’s leading hub of research, innovations and business, in line with the key thematic priorities defined in the vision work.
  2. We will attract international businesses operating in the health technology and medical sectors that are engaged in RDI activities, as well as investments, to Meilahti.
  3. We will open up the City’s social and health services as testing and pilot environments for RDI collaboration between businesses and the City.

Responsible parties: City Executive Office, Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division, key companies of the City Group.
