The Statistical Yearbook of Helsinki provides a varied, statistics-based description of Helsinki and its residents. The yearbook also presents information on the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, the Helsinki Region and all of Finland as well as major Nordic and Baltic cities.
The Statistical Yearbook of Helsinki is now published for the 113th time. The various statistical themes and their development are described in a total of 71 tables. All of these are also published as open data on the Helsinki Region Infoshare service.(Link leads to external service)
Here is a sample of the contents of the 2025 Statistical Yearbook of Helsinki:
- In 2024, there were 398,541 residential apartments in Helsinki. Of these, 93,423 were one-room units.
- In 2024, the residents of Helsinki had 395,523 valid driving licenses, 190,461 of which were held by women.
- In 2024, Helsinki had a total of 147 trams. In 2010, there were 93 trams.
- At the end of 2024, the City of Helsinki employed 38,285 persons. The largest division was the Education Division, with a total of 15,238 employees on its payroll.
- In 2023, Helsinki had 81,451 private enterprises with a total turnover of 109.3 billion euros.
