The City is drawing up a park plan for Kairakenttä field in Mellunmäki. The aim is to diversify the field's functions and coordinate the park with Laakavuori Primary School’s use of the area during breaks. The existing playground will be renovated and the stone dust surface will be retained. The aim is to preserve the existing vegetation and enhance comfort by organising the spaces and installing special lighting, for example.
The survey collects local information about the current use and condition of the park. It also provides an opportunity to share ideas on how the park should be developed and what it should offer in the future. The survey is aimed at the residents of the area and the pupils and teachers of Laakavuori Primary School. The survey results will be used in the planning of the park.
In this plan, the Kairakenttä area refers to the Kairakenttä field, the playgrounds and the surrounding planting areas, as well as the pedestrian and cycling paths. The goal is to have the park plan ready in February 2026 and to start construction during 2026.
