Helsinki Day is the city’s birthday and a joint celebration for everyone, and it has been celebrated since 1959. The programme welcomes events that are free of charge and open to everyone, taking place across Helsinki on 12 June 2026. The aim is to have a wide a range of events that engage the people of Helsinki. Commercial or ideological content is not suitable for Helsinki Day.
Last year, the Helsinki Day programme included over 200 free events across the city, These included everything from concerts, bingo, quizzes, workshops and walking tours to archipelago excursions, musical performances, theatre and open-air dancing.
The Helsinki Day programme is coordinated by the Helsinki Events Foundation. Events can be registered for the city-wide celebration until 10 June.

Production grant can be applied for until 31 March
You can register for the Helsinki Day programme using the electronic form.(Link leads to external service) (Link to external service)
Using the same form, you may also apply for production grant to support your event by 31 March, up to a maximum of 5,000 euros per event. Production grant can be allocated to production costs such as infrastructure, material expenses and artist fees, but not to marketing costs. A panel consisting of various Helsinki residents will decide on the recipients of the production grant and notify applicants of their decisions by April 23.
