First physiotherapy appointments now available more quickly through cancellation waiting list

Physiotherapy will introduce a cancellation waiting list on 28 August. This will allow clinics to offer cancelled appointments to clients awaiting their first physiotherapy session.

To join the waiting list, clients must use the Maisa client portal.

“When booking an appointment, clients can choose whether they wish to join the cancellation waiting list. If they join the waiting list, they will receive a text message or email notification when a slot becomes available,” explains Deputy Head Nurse Joni Flyckt.

The client can view further details of the available time slot in Maisa and book it for themselves there.

“If the client accepts the offered time slot, the original booking will be automatically cancelled. If the client declines the offered time slot, the original booking remains in place,” Flyckt explains.

Cancellation slots are available at all outpatient physiotherapy clinics, which are located in Vuosaari, Malmi, Kalasatama, Kivelä and Myllypuro. The clinics offer each cancellation slot to multiple people at the same time. The first person to accept the offer gets the appointment.

The cancellation waiting list may allow clients to get an earlier first physiotherapy appointment if a suitable slot becomes available. At present, clients receive their first physiotherapy appointment within approximately 2–4 weeks, depending on the urgency of their case as assessed at the time of booking.
