The law on job applicant profiles will change on 1 September 2026. In the future, jobseekers must create and publish a profile in Job Market Finland within 15 business days of starting your job search.
This obligation also applies to jobseekers who have been unemployed before this time. They must publish their job applicant profile within 15 business days of their next jobseeker interview.
You must publish your job applicant profile if you are an unemployed jobseeker, temporarily laid off, in part-time work or on a reduced working week. The same applies, for example, to part-time entrepreneurs and students, as well as jobseekers who are studying on their own while receiving unemployment benefit.
However, you do not need to publish a job applicant profile if your job search lasts for no more than 15 business days. An exception may also be made to the obligation to publish a job applicant profile if an employment services specialist assesses that the publication of the profile is not appropriate and necessary in the jobseeker’s situation. The obligation to publish a profile is always assessed in the initial interview and job search discussions.
You can publish your job applicant profile anonymously
Job applicant profiles can be viewed by employers and private recruitment agencies who have logged in with strong authentication to Job Market Finland.
Your job applicant profile gives employers a clear picture of your skills and the kinds of assignments you are interested in.
Job applicant profiles are mainly published anonymously. Employers can see the title of your job applicant profile, your introductory text and skills, as well as any other information you have published to support your job search.
Your name or contact information will not be shown to employers unless you have added an external link to your work portfolio or your LinkedIn profile, for example.
Your job applicant profile helps employers identify your skills and contact you about suitable job opportunities. Employers can offer you a job even before the vacancy is advertised.
Once you have created a job applicant profile on Job Market Finland, the system will suggest jobs that match your skills. The more clearly you describe your skills and your job search preferences, the more relevant the suggestions will be.
