The date of the Itis Symppis move to new premises has been confirmed. According to the target schedule, Symppis will move to Turunlinnantie 12 in Itäkeskus in October 2026. Until then, Symppis will operate in the current temporary premises on Kajaaninlinnantie.
Intensified cleaning and environmental work will continue on the current site as long as Symppis is located on Kajaaninlinnantie.
The Turunlinnantie building, owned by the City of Helsinki, is currently being renovated for the Symppis day centre. Symppis will be located on the ground floor of the building, with the entrance from the Turunlinnantie side of the building.
The building will also house the Itäkatu Family Centre, which is expected to be in use in 2027. The entrance to the Family Centre is in Tallinnanaukio square.
Symppis services
Symppis centres are low-threshold day centres for substance abusers. The centres provide health and social counselling to clients.
In addition to Itäkeskus, there is another Symppis located Sörnäinen. There is also a Health Counselling Point in Kontula. Also, the substance abuse workers from Mobile Symppis provide support across the city. Symppis is located in Itäkeskus because its central location offers easy access to the service.
