Which parts of the building regulations will be revised?
The revision will update the regulations to comply with the Building Act that entered into force at the beginning of 2025.
The goals of the Helsinki City Strategy, which can be influenced through the building regulations, include taking care of the condition and cleanliness of the urban space, reconciling the urban fabric with valuable nature, and increasing nature and greenery throughout the city, among other things.
Concerned parties will be consulted and you can give feedback on the draft
A participation and evaluation plan has been drawn up for the revision of the building regulations. The plan will be available for viewing on the City of Helsinki website (www.hel.fi) until 31 March 2026.
A working group is in charge of revising the building regulations, and it will consult concerned parties during the drafting process.
The draft building regulations will become available to the public on the City website in spring 2026. At that time, concerned parties will be able to submit feedback on the draft. Additionally, the working group will request opinions from key public authorities and communities.
The City Council will decide on the revision
The working group preparing the revision of the building regulations will consider the feedback and opinions received, after which the draft will go to the Urban Environment Committee, the City Board and finally the City Council, which will decide on its adoption.
