The renovation of Linnankoskenpuisto Park, which started in August 2024, is now complete. The renovation of the park was originally proposed by residents as an OmaStadi project. The proposal called for a refurbishment of the children's play area and improved lighting. Residents also wanted a traditional kiosk with a visor.
In keeping with the residents’ wishes, visitors to the park can now enjoy a renovated and expanded playground, better lighting and a kiosk. The park has also received new perennial and shrub plantings, as well as dog toilets, which will help protect the park's vegetation and lampposts from damage caused by animal messes. The toilet area also makes collecting waste easier.
New lease of life for the Nordenskiöld Square visor kiosk
The kiosk in Linnankoskenpuisto Park is made from parts of a demolished kiosk with a visor from Nordenskiöld Square. The horizontal beams of the visor are made of rails found in the visor of the old kiosk, and old metal pillars have been used for the roof structures. The glass sales hatch has also been repaired and reused.
The idea to move the kiosk to Linnankoskenpuisto Park was an initiative of the Helsinki City Council. The current location is more secure and also allows for a small terrace in front of the kiosk.
Linnankoskenpuisto Park is located at the corner of Nordenskiöldinkatu and Linnankoskenkatu in Töölö.
