The aim of the renovation, which started in October 2024, has been to make the park an increasingly pleasant and peaceful place for families with children and fitness enthusiasts alike.
The old playground has been removed and the new one is located on the upper deck of the park. In addition to the traditional swing, adventure track and trampoline, the park has the highest climbing frame in Finland, with a central pole reaching eight metres. Of the European countries, similar spiral net climbing equipment can only be found in Copenhagen, Denmark and Finland.
A versatile sports area has been built on the lower deck of the park where the playground used to be. The gym provides space and equipment for ping pong, muscle training, body weight training, yoga, and free training.
Trees, perennials and magnolias
The renovated park is also greener than before. Perennials and magnolias bloom in the planting area near the gym during the summer season. Other parts of the vegetation have also been restored, and there are two new maples in the park.
The contractor for the renovation was the City of Helsinki's Construction Contracting Service Stara.
Opening ceremony in October
The official opening of the park will take place on 15 October at 15:00, with activities for children, among other things. The event will also include the planting of the 2025 Children’s Tree.
