Youth Services would like to receive feedback from organisers of day camps operating in Helsinki, regardless of whether they took part in the application round. Your feedback is valuable, as it helps the City to improve its communication regarding the application process, the application form and the allocation of day camp facilities.
No personal data is collected or processed in this questionnaire. You can complete the questionnaire throughout October via the link at the bottom of the news article.
Demand for day camp facilities is highest at the start of the summer holidays
Organisers of day camps for children and young people may apply to use the City’s facilities to run day camps or similar activities. Day camp facilities are free of charge for registered organisations and associations based in Helsinki.
This autumn, Youth Services piloted an online booking and allocation system for day camp facilities at youth centres, community houses and comprehensive schools for the first time.
The online application round for day camp facilities for 2027 took place from 7 to 15 September 2026. A total of 16 City premises were included in the application round. Eight applicants took part in the pilot, submitting a total of 73 applications for day camp facilities.
Almost all applications (92 per cent) were for the first four weeks of the summer holidays. Although there were more facilities available than there were applications, the demand from those taking part in the application round was focused in particular on the summer holiday weeks starting on 7 and 14 June and on a few specific facilities.
Only a few applications were received for day camps organised in July and August. Some of the facilities in this round of applications received very few or no applications.
Applicants were notified of the allocations of this application round in the week starting on 12 October. Any day camp facilities and weeks that are still available after the application period can be booked via Varaamo starting from 26 October 2026.
