The aim of national urban parks is to preserve and develop urban nature and the built cultural environment as extensive and unitary wholes, and to develop the green and recreation network of the area.
The aim is to take the application of the Helsinki National Urban Park to the Urban Environment Committee and further to the City Board at the end of 2026 or early 2027. The approval of the application is decided by the Ministry of the Environment.

The preliminary objectives of the management and development plan are available for review and comment. What goals are most important in the draft National Urban Park Management Plan? What else needs to be developed?
The results of the survey are used to refine the plan and promote the planning of the area.

Presentation and workshop of the National Urban Park 30 September
We will organise a presentation and workshop event open to everyone on Wednesday 30th of September at 57.30 pm at the Central Library Oodi in Maijansali.
The opportunity must be pre-registered. The event can accommodate 54 participants.
The presentations and material for the event are in Finnish. If necessary, some small groups can be discussed in English.
