Asphalting of streets begins – see worksites in Helsinki Map Service

The City of Helsinki will be resurfacing several streets around the city. The resurfacing programme will primarily focus on replacing the asphalt surfaces of carriageways and pedestrian and cycling routes. Some rock-paved street sections will also undergo repairs during the same time period.

The resurfacing work will start in April and continue until autumn. The resurfacing programme will focus on the main and collector street network. The City commissions street condition surveys every year. The street condition data supports the preparation of the resurfacing programme.

You can find the asphalting sites in the Helsinki Map Service(Link leads to external service). There may be some changes to these sites.

The work may cause temporary changes to traffic arrangements

Before the resurfacing work starts, we will place vehicle removal request signs on the streets as necessary to make sure that no cars are parked on the streets during the work. The work will start with the removal of the old asphalt, followed by resurfacing work and painting of road markings.

The aim is to complete the work in each location within around two weeks. Weather conditions and possible machine breakdowns may extend the time needed to complete the work. Possible detour routes will be signposted during the work. Some of the resurfacing work will take place at night to minimise disruption to traffic. We will inform properties in the area separately of any night work.
