All the housing applications will change this autumn and all applicants must submit a new application. A new application can be submitted for Ara apartments as well as when swapping apartments with an exchange partner. We have also re-launched our e-services of Rental Apartment Search. Therefore you can now view, update and confirm your applications.

We are experiencing temporary issues with the function of adding children or accompanying applicants on the new housing application. It might not work for all users. he issue is being fixed. We apologise for the inconvenience.
The new rental housing applications require authentication
After completing the application, you need to authenticate yourself with your online banking credentials or mobile certificate. If you are applying for housing with a co-applicant, the co-applicant must also authenticate themselves and confirm the housing application in order for the application to be valid and included in the tenant selection. Once you have submitted the application, the co-applicant receives an email with a link for authentication.
When both applicants have confirmed the application, it is considered received and is recorded in the tenant selection system. The system classifies the application based on the urgency of the need for housing.
Authentication means proving your identity. If you do not have online banking credentials or a mobile certificate, you can authenticate yourself after submitting your application by visiting the Rental Apartment Search customer service at Työpajankatu 8 and proving your identity with an official identity card (driving license, passport or identity card).
After authentication, you can create a username and password using your email address. Your housing application will only be included in the tenant selection after the authentication visit. If you do not have an email, online banking credentials or a mobile certificate, please contact Rental Apartment Search customer service.
If you are already living in a city-owned Ara rental apartment, you can also use this housing application to apply for a change to an apartment that is becoming available. If you are swapping apartments with an exchange partner, you must complete an application when swapping apartments.
The applicant and co-applicant may both update their application. The application can be edited or renewed in Rental Apartment Search e-service.
The new or edited application will replace the previously submitted application. An expired application cannot be updated or copied, but the applicant must submit a new application. The housing application can only be updated by the applicants themselves. The updated application is valid for 3 months.

You can apply an apartment with the old application until 4 November 2021
Please note that the service may be congested when new housing applications are opened. There is no hurry to fill in the new application for Ara apartment; you can very well continue your home search for a while with the old application. All the old applications will expire on 18 November 2021.
If you have submitted an application before 20 October and have valid housing application in asiointi.hel.fi(Link leads to external service), you can edit your application until 4 November 2021. After that, the applications can no longer be filled in or edited at asiointi.hel.fi.
All the housing applications will move away from asiointi.hel.fi and will be valid until 18 November 2021. Housing applications submitted by the applicant are stored in the client folder, where the applications can be viewed until 18 November 2021.
