The work is based on a park plan for the area, and the measures carried out seek to improve the safety of plots and recreational routes.
The work area includes the wetland north of Myrskylänpolku, where trees that are hazardous or may fall suddenly pose a danger to residents and passers-by.
Most of the trees felled will be left to decay on the ground, or the tops will be removed and the trunks cut into safe lengths to allow them to decay upright. Varying levels of decaying wood support biodiversity in urban nature.
The City will start the work in winter 2026. The work will not affect the area's outdoor trails.
The work is purchased by the Urban Environment Division of the City of Helsinki. Helsinki City Construction Services (Stara) are responsible for the implementation.
