Street work on Siltasaarenkatu has been completed and tram services across Pitkäsilta Bridge to Hakaniemi will resume. Temporary routes 6B, 7B, 9B and 6T, 7T and 9T will be withdrawn as trams 3, 6, 7, 9 and 9N resume their normal routes. Tram 5 will resume operating between Katajanokka Terminal and Central Railway Station. The timetables for tram routes 1, 1T, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 8T, 9, and 10 will change. Tram routes 4 and 10 will start running more frequently.
The trams have been diverted since March due to street work on Siltasaarenkatu. The work is part of the construction of the Kruunusillat tramway, which will connect Laajasalo, Korkeasaari, and Kalasatama to Hakaniemi in 2027.
In recent years, tram services have been affected by various construction-related diversions. We thank all our passengers for their patience during the diversions.
Street work on Siltasaarenkatu – what’s being done
In October, Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd will remove the temporary tram tracks between Hämeentie and the “Kallion virastotalo” tram stops and reopen the old tracks from Hämeentie and Siltasaarenkatu. Additionally, track and switch work will be carried out at the junction of Toinen linja and Siltasaarenkatu.
Test runs will be conducted on the new tram tracks between Hakaniementori Market Square and the Pitkäsilta Bridge. The work is part of the construction of the Kruunusillat tramway, which will connect Laajasalo, Korkeasaari, and Kalasatama to Hakaniemi in 2027.
As part of the project, water and sewer systems, as well as other outdated utility infrastructure, have also been replaced on Siltasaarenkatu. Additionally, the tram tracks between Hakaniementori Market Square and the Pitkäsilta Bridge have been replaced, and new switches have been installed at the intersection of Siltasaarenkatu and Hakaniemenranta. The new switches will enable the new light rail link to Laajasalo.
