Running events take to the streets of Helsinki in spring and early summer

The Helsinki City Run event will affect traffic on Friday and Saturday 15–16 May, especially in Töölö and on Mannerheimintie.

Helsinki will also host several other running events in May and June.

Helsinki City Run on 15–16 May

The running event will affect traffic in Töölö, Töölönlahti, the Baana cycle path, Ruoholahti, the northern part of Lauttasaari, Kaskisaari, Lehtisaari, Kuusisaari, Pikku Huopalahti and Meilahti. The event centre is at the Olympic Stadium and the running routes start from Mäntymäentie.

Mannerheimintie in the southbound direction (from the Finnish National Opera and Ballet to Pohjoinen rautatiekatu) and Helsinginkatu (between Mannerheimintie and Sturenkatu) will be temporarily closed. Mäntymäentie will be closed from 15 to 16 May.

The event will impact pedestrian and cycling traffic on Baana on Friday 15 May from 20.00 to 20.45 and on Saturday 16 May from 9.40 to 15.40. Traffic controllers will guide you to alternative routes.

Yritysmaratonviesti and Mielijuoksu on 22–23 May

These running events will affect pedestrian and cycling traffic in the Meripuisto and Kaivopuisto areas.

Naisten Kymppi – Women’s Fun Run on 23 May

The centre of this event is at Kansalaistori square, where the running routes start. The Naisten Kymppi starts will take place between 13.00 and 13.40. Runners will arrive at the finish line at Kansalaistori square between 13.40 and 16.00.

Naisten Kymppi will cause temporary disruptions to traffic in the Töölö, Ruoholahti and Jätkäsaari areas. The Baana cycle path will have to be temporarily closed to other traffic.

Björn Borg Helsinki Marathon on 6 June

This event will cause short interruptions to pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the city centre. Traffic controllers will be on location to guide pedestrians and cyclists to alternative routes. The special arrangements for the event will run from 8.00 to 12.00 noon. The event centre is located in Meripuisto.
