An increasing number of people in Helsinki are paying their parking fees with a mobile app or by text message. That is why the City is taking parking ticket machines out of service this autumn in areas where they are located close to one another or where their usage is low.

The number of parking ticket machines to be taken out of service is approximately 35. You can recognise a parking ticket machine that has been taken out of service by its pink cover.

There are still approximately four hundred parking ticket machines in operation on the streets of Helsinki, particularly near popular visitor and tourist destinations.

Nowadays over 95% of parking fees in Helsinki are paid using mobile devices. It is usually a quicker option than using a parking ticket machine.
