The school's number of pupils is growing from just over 420 pupils to 675 pupils. Hence, two extension wings will be built to the school to accommodate new teaching facilities, e.g. for arts and crafts, home economics and music. New kitchen facilities and an extension to the canteen will also be added to the premises. In connection to the construction project, the old school building will be renovated to better meet modern teaching requirements.
Use caution when moving in the area
The work will start with fencing the site and with the earthworks. People in the area should exercise caution when moving near the worksite.
The construction work and increased heavy duty transport will increase noise pollution in the surrounding areas. Noise-generating works will be carried out during office hours when possible, and the locals will be informed of these works before their start.
The estimated duration of the project is two years. The goal is for the Nordic Comprehensive School to be able to start its spring semester 2028 in the Louhentie premises.
The contractor for the project is Varte Oy.
