Six residents and two employees of Myllypuro senior centre have been found to be infected with the coronavirus. The people infected are from the same group home. The first infection was diagnosed on Sunday 29 August.

As a precautionary measure, all residents and employees of the department will be tested for COVID-19. The residents are being treated in quarantine-like conditions in their own rooms.

- We will closely monitor the well-being of all residents. We are now doing everything we can to prevent the coronavirus from spreading in the senior centre,” says Service District Director Maritta Haavisto.

All of the infected residents have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The relatives of the residents of that section have been informed of the situation. Visits to group homes are currently prohibited, but friends and family members can contact residents by phone, for example. New residents are not being admitted to the section at the moment.
