Helsinki residents with serious illnesses and in urgent need for care can also go to the Jorvi Hospital emergency room, Turuntie 150, Espoo, tel. (09) 87 10023, or the Peijas Hospital emergency room, Sairaalakatu 1, Vantaa, tel. (09) 471 67060, weekdays 16–08 and 24 hours on weekends and holidays.

Patients are examined in the order of urgency, not in the order of arrival at the emergency room. The need and urgency of care are assessed by a nurse at registration. The nurse refers the patient to a hospital doctor, a health station doctor or an emergency nurse, or the nurse asks the patient to contact their health station during its opening hours.
