“We offer information and networking opportunities for international people. The idea is to make participants aware of city services with fun and interactive events,” the organisers Sören Rasmussen and Elina Nurmi sum up.

A rich and rewarding part of Helsinki opens beyond the city shoreline: the Helsinki archipelago, consisting of about 300 islands, many of them open to the public. The islands offer a splendid gateway to the Baltic Sea nature.


Finnish nature’s exquisite bounty comes near town with the opening of Haltia. “We want to convey the power of nature to promote physical and mental wellbeing”, says Päivi Rosqvist, spokesperson of Metsähallitus.

"What’s special about the Baltic Sea Challenge is voluntary action by local players and commitments that go beyond regulatory measures,” says Lotta Ruokanen, the co-ordinator of the challenge at the City of Helsinki Environment Centre.

The Sinebrychoff Park near the Hietalahti Square was originally a private garden founded by the Russian born business man Nikolai Sinebrychoff (1786-1848).
