The Sinebrychoff Park
The Sinebrychoff Park near the Hietalahti Square was originally a private garden founded by the Russian born business man Nikolai Sinebrychoff (1786-1848). During the Tall Ship Races between 17 and 20 July this year the park and its stage will entertain families with concerts and activities for children.
Nikolai Sinebrychoff made his fortune by getting a monopoly on the brewing of beer in Helsinki. He established a brewery, a ship yard and a bathing establishment, among others. Next to the brewery he built in 1842 a neoclassical villa with a lovely garden. The renovated house opened in 1980 as the Sinebrychoff Art Museum (address Bulevardi 40). The museum is part of the Finnish National Gallery with an Interior Museum showing the home of Fanny and Paul Sinebrychoff and a valuable collection of foreign art depicting old masters up to the end of 18th century.
